My Artist Statement from MEDP 150
I've never been one to drone on about myself so creating an artist statement that I could be comfortable with has always been a struggle. Below is my first attempt at creating one in an academic setting. My revised statement will be shared in my next post so that the two can be compared side by side.
Graphite, charcoal, gouache, and digital paint are my mediums of choice. Through the use of these mediums I have chosen to explore the ways in which physical action and quality of line affect the nature of responses a specific work evokes. The goal here to achieve a rhythm with my work that is both distinct and recognizable.
As the arts and entertainment industries change due to the use and availability of a vast array of creative technologies, I want to explore as many different formats as possible. These formats include but are not limited to: traditional illustration, sequential work (comic books), animation (2D and 3D), video, photography (film and digital), traditional painting, sculpture, installation, and interactive art. I wish to embark on this journey through my personal body of work as well as any commercial endeavors that I may pursue in the future.
